PocketBook Basic 2 can't upload, software update, factory reset

Hi all,

I have a problem with a PocketBook Basic 2. The software version is: W614.4.4.1289

If i connect to a PC and i want to delete from it, it seems the data is deleted, but after restart the books is on the device.

I tried to erase the internal memory (from the software), after restart it is the same as before.

I try to factory reset, i should have to set the time and date, but nothing happens after it. The same books and everything is on the device.

I connect to internet and tried to download the new software version, the download is starting but after finishing, it said is corrupted.
I also download from internet, and copy from the pc to the pocketbook, but after restart the files is not on the device.

Anyone has any idea what can i do with it? :help:

Never owned an e reader. Looking to buy one for commuting purposes.

Trying to understand the differences between the different models and price points.

The Touch Lux 3 seems to handle most formats and compared to the Kobo Aura you can actually borrow books directly from libraries?

The Lux 3 is from 2015 but I guess the ink technology hasn't taken huge leap since then? I just don't wanna buy a inferior "screen".

Pocketbook releases Touch HD 2. There are no material differences compared to the first Touch HD, except that the new device promises a "soft and warm light in the evening", which probably refers to a colour-changing frontlight with some yellow or orange tone.

Instead of yellow frontlight (or better: in addition to it), I'd like to be able to have full inversion of tones across the entire device.

Touch Lux 3, Touch HD and most newer devices receive firmware update 5.17.

Inkpad 2 still at 5.15. A noticeable drawback of the older firmware is that Dropbox does not sync.

I have the opportunity to buy a new Ebook Reader and I can't decide between the two from the title. What do you think?
I had a Basic 2 for over 2 years until now and the main grievance for me would be the lack of screen front light. I think I could live without touchscreen...
The resolution is the same. And the price for me would be very close. Basic Lux has 8 Gb of memory compared to the 4 of the Touch Lux 3. But the Touch has touchscreen...

I am in Australia and am finding it hard to locate a source to buy a Pocketbook. I have owned 2 in the past and the last one I got via ebay (the 632). I am looking for a reader for my son, so could get a 623 again (pretty old model), or perhaps the Lux 3, I was thinking.

But I don't see where I can buy one at the moment. Any good tips?

I just got so frustrated that I had to create an account.

I'm Brazilian, so I'm usually aware of international websites to buy stuff from, but I can't find the Ideapad 2 ANYWHERE.

Not on amazon (.com, .co.uk. .it), not on ebay (which never failed me before), not on local websites that sell for outrageous prices.

So, the question is, where can I buy it? I'm not even sure I want the ideapad 2, because I don't know the price, but I want to find somewhere that sells it first. Thinking about the touch HD 2 too, but that is also really rare, I mostly find the first version.

If it's only in a specific language (like Deutsche, Italian, etc), could you at least point to a website that sends internationally?

I was reading the mobileread wiki and I found out they have a color version, which isn't even accessible in their main website. Wtf?

Also, if you allow me, I'm interested in the pocketbook line because it seems to handle PDFs (technical books) well. My other option would be the Onyx Boox M67L. Any thoughts on that?

Book Title on Pocketbook Touch HD2 is wrong

Hello,
I transmitted all my epub´s from Calibre (latest release) to my new Pocketbook Touch HD2 and (almost) all worked fine.
There are two books where the book title is not shown correctly on the reader. In calibre "Totenstille im Watt", on the reader "Roman". I checked the metadata in calibre, fields "title" and "title sorting" contain "Totenstille im Watt", "Roman" does not exist anywhere in the metadata. The German "Roman" means in English "novel", so I assume that this quaifier is hidden anywhere and will be interpreted wrong by the reader.
The second book which is shown wrong has a main title and a sub title (last one is only visible on the booklet). In the meta data only the main title is existing, on the reader only the sub title will be shown.
On my old Tolino both book titles were shown correctly. Calibre settings have not been changed when I connected the new Pocketbook.
Has anyone an idea what happens here and what I can change in Calibre and/or Pocketbook to show the titles correctly?

Where are the stock dictionaries located?

I was wondering, and if it is said somewhere in the fora I didn't yet find: where are the preinstalled dictionaries located? I have browsed /, /sys, /usr/share, /ebrmain etc. without finding them (supposing they are indeed stored as .dic)
Part of the question is to understand what I got (e.g. to have an idea of how serious the dictionaries are, size may be vaguely indicative), part for evaluating which dictionaries to copy so that I can use them in coolreader3 too. CR3, I found, only recognizes those which are put in /mnt/ext1/system/dictionaries.
Specifically, I'm on PB631 with firmware 5.17, if that makes a difference.

looking for Littre, Larousse, Academie Francaise .dic

I've been scanning old threads for these dictionaries. The links to rapidshare here are dead, I tried converting from xdxf (fr collates also found on old threads) from e.g. here, but DictionaryConverter-neu_171109 chokes on them (usually "unclosed xml tag" early in the file or "not in xdxf format").
Someone happens to have a surviving pointer to them? (assuming there are no copyright issues, not sure about the Academie 1935-1938)

Good evening
I have apocketbook inkpad that I've been working for one month but it Breakdown for no reason
inThe first start button was Flashes for second when connected to the computer or charger
I thought it was about the battery but I took it to a specialist and told me the battery was good
Now he's dead There is no response when connected to charger or computer
I called the company(pocketbok)they gave me some instructions but it did not work

Can't access one folder in touch HD

I've got a Touch HD for Christmas (rebranded by the French brand Tea if that matters).

Today I transferred most of my ebooks to it via Calibre. I have instructed calibre to send the books to specific folders according to the genre of the book (by creating a specific column with values that I defined myself to choose from).

Everything went well except that there's one folder I can't access on the device while in folder view. If I click on the folder it briefly opens it before reverting to a previous folder or to the all books view.

The folder is called Nonfiction so there's no problem of special characters or anything.
When I plug the device to my computer I can access this folder fine. I ran fsck on the device (my computer uses Linux) and it returned no errors.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on?

Excuse me for my English

I just bought a touch hd 2 and I am amazed with the great screen (my previous screen was pearl of 1024 x 768) and with color temperature!

but I found that when I use the audio, you hear background noise which makes your hearing very dirty, both on the audio player and the tts. with the latest update it gets a little better but the noise is still audible.

I'm worried if it's this device or maybe it's a manufacturing defect and maybe the next update will fix it?

Would you be so kind as to check to see if this is happening in your units? above all you can listen to it with low volume and it depends on the song. also in the tts when using pause and/or restart you can hear some clicks.

Pocketbook Touch HD custom fonts

I just received my new Touch HD. Is it still possible to install a custom font on this model? It is running software version 5.17. I found some instructions on the web for installing a custom font but the folder they refer to is no longer visible, I am guessing, from what I have read in other threads here, that it is hidden.

So: If it is still possible to add a custom font, how do I do it?
