It's the first time I'm looking a bit more closely at Pocketbook readers. The features and price of the Touch HD 2 are attractive, but I can't find information on whether the frontlight can be completely turned off. I assume so, but wanted to check here first. :)

Pocketbook Aqua2 problems. Please help.
Hello fellow readers. I've bought Pocketbook Aqua 2(Model PB641) and so far it brought nothing but disappointment for me. I'm borderline considering getting a refund. The only thing going for it is form factor. It fits perfectly in the pocket I've intended to place it in. Anyway, I was hoping some of my questions may be answered here. I've done a google search and so far have not found answers to these questions/problems sorted from least problematic:
1. A minor thing, but I would really like to import some bookmarks into the browser can that be done at all?
2. I wanted to remove logo screen. I've tried to create a simple white screen sized .BMP file and put it onto device under /system/logo and set it in settings to be new logo. But it still shows the default one. I've tried other logo options and not random nor book cover work. It still shows default screen about Aqua 2 and it's features.
3. I sometimes read articles online and I would not like to lose my progress when I need to put the device into my pocket. Obviously I don't want to have unnecessary touch enabled whilst the device is in my pocket. Since there is no option in settings to have device restore browser page and place when returning from power off, like the option for books, my only reasonable choice is sleep mode. Which I found is enabled by double taping on power button. But after several minutes(about 5-10) my device resets to main menu if it's in sleep mode and disables said mode. I have all power saving features turned off.
So if anyone can help with at least some of these problems, please do so.
P.S. The device did a firmware update the moment I turned it on, so it's on latest(I hope) version U641.5.17.971. Software update says it is latest.

Touch HD searching inside books
I've had my new Pocketbook for about a week now and really like it.
I did discover one odd thing last night. I've had three other brands of ebook readers and with all of them I could long press a word in a book and then search inside the book for that word. This is helpful to me when I forget who a minor character is, I can search for when they first appeared. But with Pocketbook's software, this does not seem possible. It seems I have to open the book menu, choose search, and then type in the word manually.
Am I missing something?
I've read some of the CoolReader threads on here and am wondering if the CoolReader software will let you search for a word in the book without having to type it in. Will CoolReader run okay on the Touch HD running the 5.17 firmware?

Touch HD, Future features or dead features?
So I've been playing around with my new Touch HD. I noticed under the personalize settings you can change the boot image. I have no problem getting a different image to load for boot up, but there is an option in the menu for "Random" image, which doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried loading images into the Photo folder and directly into the boot folder but the "Random" option just displays which ever image was last selected for boot.
Also, in the systems folder there a folder called "themes" but I haven't been able to find any themes for the Touch HD by googling. I see some themes mentioned for other models, though, but have not wanted to try them in case they are not compatible.
Anybody have any insight to the "Random" option or the "themes" folder?

Retiring my PB 840
I have replaced my PB 840 Inkpad (original model with v. 5.15) with an Icarus Illumina XL. I would now like to part with the 840. However, on checking with E Bay, I could not find any for sale so as to get a feel for pricing a used unit.
Would appreciate any price range suggestions or interest if that is allowed/appropriate here.
Unit is in excellent shape with a very minor cosmetic ding. Cover for USB port/SD card slot is missing as the strap on it broke and PB would not send me a replacement piece!
Screen is scratch free and has always had a screen protector on it.
Not looking to becoming independently wealthy from this transaction but would like this unit to find a warmly appreciative home.

CoolReader for PocketBook HD 2 and Inkpad 3 witn support temperature of backlight
Hello, everyone. I am recompiled latest CoolReader for support of change of temperature of the backlight. It is relevant only to users of PocketBook Touch HD 2 (631 Plus in Russia) and Inkpad 3 (740 in Russia).
The principle is as follows. If you swipe up and down on the right half of the screen, the backlight brightness changes. If you swipe up down on the left side of the screen the backlight temperature changes.
I also changed the extensions.cfg default CoolReader needs to open the files, fb2 and epub. He also replaced the skin for Pocket Book 631 with the skin from dizone (4pda.ru).

InkPad 3 no PocketBook Cloud syng option
Just received yesterday my InkPad 3 and I cannot find the Cloud Sync option. Manual says it is offered on first steps in the installation process. Not to me, it only offered Send-to-Pocket, and it is not as well in the notification area and not in the Accounts and Syncronization page in configuration.
In that page only appears:
Send-to-PocketBook
Dropbox
ReadRate
Adobe DRM
The main page button called "Store", after some redirects, redirects me to the main google page.
I successfully registered my Inkpad in BookLand account by hand, but still no option to sync... and for example the auto-sync option is disabled...
Any idea about this?

PocketBook Touch Lux 3 (626) - persistent horizontal lines/bars on screen problem

So, since this year my Touch Lux 3 started displaying horizontal lines in the middle of the screen.
They do not disappear after full page fresh.
They are displayed on every screen.
They are displayed when device sleeps.
They are displayed when device is off.
Firmware version: E626.5.14.1227 release date 20170718_041540.
Customizations: CoolReader added and set as default reading app for txt, epub and html.
It's long past warranty so I've opened it up (back cover only so far) and checked those flat rainbow connectors. All tried connecting and reconnecting them (all 3 of them - backlight, display, touchscreen) but it didn't help.
Plus, after leaving it for night for charging the lines appears to be wider (or there are more of them).
It now looks like this

screen saver when KOReader in use on InkPad2
Hello,
I have inkPad2 and using KOReader on it to be able to synchronize book readings between Kindle and my Android as well InkPad2.
It works very well, reading sync as well as highlights and notes and thanks to KoHighlights I can even export all my highlights and notes out of this system.
On InkPad2 I have however a bit of an issue. I have set in KOReader to have as screen saver the cover of currently reading book. This work, it is however after a while overwritten by screensaver settings from PocketBook InkPad2.
Do you know how to solve this? I like that only KOReader controls the screensaver.

Almost all of them are six years old or older...
If not, is it still possible to compile those sources and use them on a Touch Lux 3?

Hows Dropbox sync work?
Ive just learned of inkbook 3 and sounds like itll sync reading place, highlights and notes via Dropbox between iOS app and ereader. Is that correct? Does it work well?

Japanese characters not showing properly
Hey, so i have my pocketbook inkpad 3 and i love it... however i have a huge issue is that my japanese books/folders have wrong characters. it shows an empty box on my character, even kana ones. sometimes it works ok on some folder or book title, but on some other, even very similar 8like volume 2 of properly showing title book) it displays only boxes. i think it has to do with the default font that does not support japanese, i tried putting a supported font in system/fonts but nothing changes

Transfer notations to computer? (Inkpad 3)
For pure reading I'm pretty much still happy with my old Kobo. But I read a lot of non-fiction and want to do hightlights (and take some notes). These I of course want to transfer to the computer.
Reading this thread makes me a bit worried that it wont work.
Could someone with an Inkpad 3 test doing some hightlights and some notes and transfer them to a computer?

InkPad 3 - which Calibre plugin?
Calibre comes with a bunch of plugins/drivers for Pocketbook devices, but none of them are specifically for the InkPad 3. Which of the available choices should I use so that Calibre interacts with the reader?

PB740 (IP3) Series Handling
I usually fill my eReaders with calibre. InkPad 3 (PB740) shows a peculiar handling of metadata: most of the time it takes the series information from calibre and displays it in the library view correctly.
However - when transferring single titles (no series information in calibre) it shows a strange behaviour:

Most of the titles above are scanned and converted into epub. The author information is garbled and contains either internal information or points to a series I did not insert in my calibre meta data (e.g. Arcot, Wade, Morey - 1).
If you look at the last line of the screen you see a correctly transferred title, author and series meta data.
Any idea?
