[TL2/626] Getting custom linux running!
Hello,
Since I have opened my pocketbook TL2 to play with the internal SD card, I have no idea why but I wanted to run linux on it.
It is not a straightforward process, incomplete as of today.
Please take a look at the sunxi page dedicated to the 626.
To make it short, I managed to get a modern u-boot on it, and run a custom-built linux kernel (as of today, 4.18.0-rc6). On top of that, I used an Arch Linux userland.
What is working:
not that much... real time clock, led, wifi, ssh, pacman, etc.
What is not working:
display (tps65185 not even build/included in device tree), power manager (gets detected but defaults to "regulator-dummy"), external SD card slot, have some usb warnings, etc.
Going further is beyond my knowledge.
If someone is interested and can help getting some more stuff working, please let's discuss it here. If you think it is an easy to do task, remember you have to open the pocketbook, may be solder some wires to get a serial console, and that you will not be able to do much with the system if you get it running.
I have shared more info on the linux-sunxi page, but that is not much, because it involved lots of tries and errors, tinkering, etc. but I will take the time to describe my steps if someone is interested.

Pocketbook Basic Touch (624) internal SD card image
Hello,
i just recently tried to update PB 624 which was not used for a while with newer firmware (from old version around 4.4.4xx). I started update directly in the e-book reader over WiFi. Since then the reader seems to be stuck in a boot loop with only the hourglass animation displayed.
I knew that the reader has removable internal SD card so I gently got it out and it seems that it got messed up by the update. For instance partition that should mount as /mnt/secure is not readable and seems corrupted so that might be one of the issues why it cannot boot. The SD card itself seems to be working correctly.
I wanted to ask here if some good soul could help me by providing an image copy of their internal SD card from a Pocketbook 624. To be true I would be happy for any SD card bitcopy from any device with a firmware version around 4.4.
I just don't want to throw away a fully functioning device just because someone did a really bad job with their proprietary code... Thanks for any help.

Pocketbook Pro 912 screen or stylus?
I've got a Pocketbook Pro 912 which has served me well for many years but yesterday after charging the touch screen stopped working. The reader works when using the buttons but it won't recognize any input from the stylus.
Do anyone know about a third party replacement for the stylus which I could try?
If I'll have to get a new reader I think I'll go for the Pocketbook Inkpad 3. I think 7.8" is a bit small but I can't find a bigger one at a decent price. Thoughts on this reader?

I just order a inkpad 3 . Whats you opinion. Did i make a mistake or are you happy with this ereader . I will like some feedback . I read most manga and comics.

How to sync Pocketbook eReader with Pocketbook Android App
I just got a new Pocketbook Touch Lux 4. I bought it, because I read in several places that it's possible to sync books and reading status with the Pocketbook Android App.
Preferably I would like to sync via Dropbox, because I mainly need synchronisation of epubs downloaded from fanfiction sites.
I connected the Android App to Dropbox and I connected the Touch Lux 4 with Dropbox. I don't understand how they are supposed to sync, because there are two different folders in my Dropbox. The Touch Lux created a 'Dropbox PocketBook' folder and the Android App created a 'PocketBook e-reader' folder.
I would consider using Pocketbook Cloud if Dropbox is not possible. I have an account already and login via Android works, but there is no option to login to the cloud on my Touch Lux 4, even though it's mentioned in the user manual.
When I open Settings, Accounts & Synchronisation I only see Send-to-PocketBook, Dropbox, ReadRate and Adobe DRM. There was no notification message either. The software is the latest version.
Any ideas?

calibre latest version . Touch 2 HD shows strangest behavior
Hello!
On my device, I have tried to view an epub book that I have previously created from an HTML file and the conversion with calibre (3.30).
If you open the book and select an entry in the table of contents, it jumps to the designated text position, no problem.
But if you return to the table of contents, it marks a wrong entry boldly to signify where you come from.
The version of the touch 2 hd is "U631.5.18.463".
I wanted to ask if someone could give me an answer or clarification, that I have to contact the manufacturer.

740 Inkpad 3 annoying issue

I've bought Inkpad 3 before one week. This is my first e-reader. I like it very much, but I have some very annoying problem.
Epub file, font size 11pt, font is default, lines spacing is the middle option, padding is the middle option also.
Change page, and turn off the reader, for example 230 page. When I turn it on, the font size become different, if it was small it become bigger, if it is bigger, become small. Everything is ok before sand clock, at the bottom left, finished. Also the paragraphs changed, so I cannot remember where I was.
I've sent mail to pocketbook company, goes to the shop from where I bought it, no body tells me what is the problem...
I will be very thangfull if somebody tells me what may be the problem.

Inkpad 3 system file
Did anyone try to access the system file in inkpad 3. I connected inkpad to the laptop by usb and tried to find the system file to add extra fonts and dictionaries like I did with my pocketbook 903.
The system file does not show in the directory.
On the laptop is the access to hidden files allowed.
Any suggestions?

CSS3 and Math compatibility

Sorry if it's been asked before but I'm new and I couldn't yet delve into the forum space. So, please do with this topic what you believe is necessary...
Anyway, AFAIU from what I read here and there, Pocketbook is one of the most praised readers in the market today. I've got Kindle Paperwhite and think to switch to Pocketbook or Onyx. I'm also planning to design cross-platform ebooks particularly focusing on reflowability including some technical content like formulas. But before that, I'd like to know to what extent both models (sorry, I'm asking about Onyx here too not to spam the other thread with the same request) or any other models that fit the below criteria:
1. support as many CSS3 features as possible (like media queries);
2. support embedding math/physics formulas or at least SVG images.
Being private, e-reader manufacturers are apparently not willing to share much info outside, so I think this forum is the best platform to read/discuss more about the ongoing development...

How to turn of screen refreshing. (Watching Youtube on pocketbook)
Hello, I have a problem. The newest software for Touch HD 2 (5.18) has got new browser. In this new browser you can watch films on Youtube, but screen refreshing is very annoying. Any ideas to turn off screen refreshing?

inkpad 3, strange LED and not evenly illuminate smartlight?
Hi everyone;
since two days i have a brand new pocketbook inkpad 3 and very happy with it but when i try to read it with a smart light, at the bottom left (corner) a LED look like stronger than any other and the screen isn't evenly illuminate, that disturb me for a nice reading experience :bulb2:

I contact service support of pocketbook they answer me its normal, because the technology of e-ink is like that... but my tolino vision is not like that and any reader i saw isnt like that. :chinscratch:
Someone have seen the same issue? its realy normal?

Inkpad 3 shows incorrect time after standby

I'm using the Inkpad 3 with the official "sleep cover", that automatically puts the device on standby when I close it. Over the last few weeks I noticed that it always shows the wrong time after waking up from standby. I activated the automatic time synchronization in the settings menu, however, that only seems to work after a full restart. Did anybody else have this problem? Is there a solution (apart from not using standby)?

I open this discussion because I bought the reader in question, and because I have various doubts and questions, so as to enclose the various answers in one thread.
First I thought about updating the software, putting my caliber library on dropbox and sync.
But I would also like to try koreader and coolreader... can you tell me the guides to follow to install them ?

Customised CSS
I have noticed there are quite a few CSS files in the system folder of PocketBook's firmware.

- Has anyone tried to customise the looks of the ePub reader by tweaking those files? Does it actually work? Examples appreciated.
- Is there a way to have the modifications take precedence on the internal CSS of the ePub?
- And finally: What is the clause to include in the ePub reader to force the ePub reader to display all ePub files as justified with hyphenation enabled?
