how to develop for FW5+ on python?

I'm wondering if it's possible to develop something on the pocketbook firmware 5 and above, on python.

I have seen that brucelee had made a prebuilt python binary, but I still don't get how im supposed to show everything ranging from UI to file handling functions.

Do i need to wrap it with the SDK? or build everything from scratch?

Thanks for any answers beforehand, since, im quite new to programming in general :/

Touch Lux 3 - Battery suddenly empties

I bought a used Touch Lux 3 (it turned out to be the original, heavier version). The battery was completely dead when it arrived, so I figured that's probably why the seller got rid of it. I charged the battery, it seemed good, and I was using it without issue. Turned it off and when I turned it on again, it had dropped below 50%. Charged it again. Next morning it was completely dead.

So I bought and installed a new battery. It took a "good" charge. Seemed to hold it fine — until it didn't. Same behavior as the old battery.

I tried erasing the internal memory and doing a factory reset, taking it out of the cover (with magnet) and turning it completely off each (instead of putting it into Sleep mode) — nothing seems to help.

I've seen that this was an issue in the past on this model. Is it possible that the Touch Lux 3 needs to be somehow "calibrated" to the battery, or that it thinks the battery is charged when it really isn't? Seems to me it charges way too fast. I was never able to find if there was a fix for this in the past. It's possible that my replacement battery is defective, I suppose, but it still doesn't explain the sudden drops in charge, instead of a steady decline.

Sorry for rambling. Just looking to see if anyone has run into something like this and whether there was a fix. I'm also wondering if there could be a short somewhere, but (again) it seems like the issue would be more consistent if that was the case.

I have learned enough from the Touch Lux 3 to know that I want to upgrade to a new PocketBook. Not sure yet if I'll be cheap and get the Touch Lux 4 or go for the Touch HD3.

Does vivlio (French brand of Pocketbook) mount as an external drive?

Hello,

for a long time I was a user of PocketBook; I chose this brand because they were neutral against PC Operating System, the reader was simply mounting as an external drive and I could copy there various non-DRM epubs and PDFs on different machines without unnecessary registrations, accounts, software, being bind to a certain library etc.

As I am a Linux user, I would be rather annoyed with e.g. Kobo which gives users software for Mac and Windows only and needs some hacking to be fully operational under Linux.

Unfortunately I lost my reader and am about to go for vacations, so desperately and quickly need one. I am now in France and wonder if I get a Vivlio HD Plus (https://www.vivlio.com/en/vivlio-readers/) will I be able out of the box to copy my books? Or will I need Linux hacking to get around it?

From what I understand from the Vivlio website here:

It should work, but I would very much appreciate feedback and confirmation from users.

There is another new model from PocketBook - PocketBook Touch Lux 5. It looks like successor of PocketBook Touch Lux 4 and have some new features:
- SMARTlight - the ability to change the color temperature of the frontlight;
- faster processor (dual core 2x1 GHz);
- Legimi app (e-book subscription for Polish and German readers).

Remove "built-in" store on a PocketBook?

My PocketBook Touch Lux 3 shows Bücher eBooks & mehr – Hänler der Zukunft as its Store (where I go when I hit the Store icon), even though I have it connecting to BookLand's Cloud. Is there any way to clear the original store information or is this hard-wired? (Not a huge deal, but I'm wondering if there's something here causing the battery drain issue.)

Transfer or copy data from one pocketbook to another

hi there,

I have two pocketbook inkpad 3 readers (one with a broken screen... don't ask :smack::embarasse) and I want to transfer the data from the old one to a new one. How can I do that?

Of course I can copy books from Calibre to the new one, that's not the problem.

I want the data such as statistics, notes, page markers and so on copied to the new inkpad. Is that possible?

I cannot use the screen anymore. I tried to look up in the files on the old inkpad by using a usb cable and my pc, but I couldn't find and see such files.

Has anyone the trick how to do this? Thank you very much!

Buy DRM'ed ebooks not from built-in store and without using ADE?

I own a pocketbook sold under the brand Tea for the French market (Tea has now become vivlio if I understand correctly).

It is associated with a built in store (decitre in my case) which allows me to buy books directly from the device. I can also buy books from a windows computer, download them with ADE and transfer them on the device.

Unfortunately the built-in store does not contain all the books I'd like, and I'd like to not use a windows computer as I mainly use Linux.

Is there a way to buy ebooks from elsewhere than my built-in store AND without using ADE, either directly from the device or from a Linux computer?

I doubt that the customer service would let me change my built-in store and anyway I think I would need several as I read both in English and French. I am also unwilling to physically open my device, and would like to avoid rooting it for changing the built-in store.

This question must have been asked several times but I was unable to find an answer, sorry for asking again.

ETA : running ADE from Linux with wine doesn't work for me.

ETA : I'm also not willing to buy from amazon.

I am just curious about the differences between them. The data sheets seem similar, only difference seems to be the lack of the MicroSD and the Bluetooth.
But I read that the firmware a re different.
Where is the additional differences?

Jump backward 3 pages on every wake

Hi everybody,
I have a Pocketbook Touch HD 3 which is my first ereader.
Every time I turn my ereader on, it goes back three or four pages on the current ebook. I returned my first device because of a defected screen, but it behaved like this too, so I'm almost sure this happens on all of them.
Can someone help me understand why this happens? If it's a feature I can't seem to understand the use of it. I'm constantly trying to find the page I'm at.

Store?

Yesterday I received a Inkpad 3 Pro reader and I now have had the opportunity to play with it for a day. I bought if for the larger screen and what I hoped would be an enhanced reading experience. And, as far as the reading experience simply put it's great. I really like the larger screen and the uniformity of the lighting.

What I find puzzling is the store. I hope I'm either doing something wrong or overlooking something but I can only find three books in English and It doesn't appear that there is much in the way of selections available for other languages either. It seems to me that it would be an embarrassment for Pocketbook to offer a bookstore with that limited a selection, plus, why bother with cloud availability if there is no content to store in the cloud?

Am I overlooking something or is that all that is really available through the Bookland store?

Anyone else find the screen of Touch HD too sensitive?

I have a pocketbook touch HD (I'm unsure if it's a HD, HD2 or HD3: the model name on the device is PB631) and I like it a lot but I find the touch screen to be far too sensitive for my taste. I have long hair and the brush of my hair against the screen will cause a change in screen font which may be quite long. Same with my sleeves if I wear a garment with wide sleeves.

Does anybody else have the same feeling? I guess there's no way to make it less sensitive? (apart from breaking it ;)

I don't think it's relevant but FWIW my device was sold under the Tea brand.

Scripting on Touch HD - wrong orientation

Hi.
I wrote a small script to download my daily newspaper on my Touch HD3. In case something goes wrong or the newspaper already was loaded I want to display some information.

For this I use (e.g.)

Code:
dialog 2 Exists "Load newspaper of $( date -D %s -d $today +%d.%m.%Y) again?" YES NO OPEN
What's strange is: The dialog is displayed as if I rotated the HD to the left.

How could this happen? No matter how I hold the device, the dialog is alway that way.

Ink pad 3 cover

I decided to buy an Inkpad 3, not a pro, because I believe it is good enough for my needs.
Now I’d like a cover, possibly with a sleep / wake up functionality.
I have seen the kwmobile covers, they seem cheap, but it is not clear whether they perform as I’d like.
The original pocketbook covers are not available right now.
Any suggestions ?

Touch HD 3 bug

Hi everyone,

I am new here, found this forum looking for a fix to a bug that I encounter, reading on my brand new Touch HD 3 (firmware: v.6.0.926). The problem is this: When I am reading, turn of the e-reader, and then turn it on again, it opens the book on a page before the page where I stopped reading. This isn't the only problem regarding page numbering, placing a bookmark is virtually impossible, for it bookmarks the page a few pages before that specific page.

How do I solve this/is this know to the developers?

POCKETBOOK Touch Lux 4 touchscreen not working after update

Hello all,

Yesterday i had a prompt to update to the newest firmware, so I downloaded it via WiFi and then started the update.

Now the touchscreen has a strange behavior. It's working randomly if i touch my screen with two fingers.

Physical button are working well.

What i tried :

- Install all available update.
- Factory reset
- push twice on the menu button to disable and enable the touchscreen

Still same.

Any ideas ?

Just got the Pocketbook Color, I can create collections, add books individually, but if I select multiple books and try and add to a collection it only adds the first book selected.

Syncing Sideloaded Books

Hello guys, I'm thinking of buying my first eReader, and I made a post https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=332461 about it in which I was trying without success to sync a Sideloaded png to Kindle Cloud, so I could read on my phone and laptop

Later I tried to do the same with the PocketBook Cloud and it did work I can see my synced books on both places, and the kind person who was helping me there told me that as far as they know, those synced books won't appear on the eReader, and I need confirmation on that feature.

Inkpad 3: Fast indexed text search?

Hi,

I just received my brand new Inkpad3 and I really love it.

However, being a former Kindle Paperwhite user, I noticed that searches within a book are incredibly slow. Apparently, the books are not indexed for fast searching on the Inkpad.

Is there a way to perform fast kindle like text searches on the inkpad? Can I enable text indexing for fast searching?
